A safe pair of hands for business owners who owe the ATO

We're a genuine private business funder. We help small business owners through the tax-debt headache with guidance and funding — and we are not an insolvency firm.

Who we are

Tax Debt Loans is a business funder focused on one problem: tax debt that's putting a good business — and sometimes its owners personally — at risk. Over many years we've helped a great many small business owners through it, with straight guidance and, where it fits, funding that pays the ATO in full. Some of those businesses had been told they couldn't be saved. They were.

We lend for business purposes only. Property-secured loans run from $20,000 to $5,000,000 — first mortgages, second mortgages and caveat loans over residential or commercial property. Unsecured and cash-flow options for trading businesses typically run from $5,000 to $500,000, sized on turnover and bank statements. ATO debt, defaulted payment plans and past credit issues are considered case by case. Where it's arranged at settlement, funds can be paid straight to the ATO.

We are not an insolvency firm

We want this to be impossible to miss. We are not an insolvency firm, not a liquidator, not an administrator, not a "pre-insolvency" adviser and not a tax agent. We don't put companies into liquidation or administration. We don't sell restructures. We don't negotiate with the ATO for a fee. And we never, ever charge a fee based on a percentage of your tax debt.

Our goal is the opposite of insolvency: keep the business trading and the owner in control, without the legal and professional fees that so often run to tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. ASIC's own data shows median practitioner fees of around $16,000 for the restructuring stage of a small business restructure, and average liquidator fees of around $18,000 for smaller liquidations — before creditors see anything.

That doesn't mean insolvency professionals are the enemy. Registered liquidators and trustees do important, regulated work, and for a business that genuinely can't continue, they're the right people to see. Our concern is with being steered there first — before cheaper options have been considered, often by unregulated advisers whose fees depend on it.

Who you're talking to

We are

  • A genuine private business funder
  • Focused on keeping your business trading and you in control
  • Upfront about the free options, even when they suit you better than a loan
  • Happy to work alongside your accountant

We are not

  • An insolvency firm, liquidator or administrator
  • A "pre-insolvency" or debt-restructuring adviser
  • A tax agent negotiating with the ATO for a fee
  • Paid a percentage of your tax debt — ever

If funding can clear your ATO debt in a way the business can carry, we'll show you how. If it can't, we'll say so plainly and point you to free help or a registered professional. Talk to us before you sign anything.

How we work

  • Deadlines first. When you call, we ask about director penalty notices, lockdown dates, statutory demands and garnishee notices before anything else, because they decide what's possible.
  • Every option, honestly. We'll tell you about ATO payment plans, the interest-free plan, GIC remission and free helplines — even when they mean you don't need us.
  • Official sources. Every page on this site cites the ATO, ASIC, AFSA or another official source, with the date we last checked it.
  • Alongside your accountant. We're happy to work with your accountant or tax agent, and we'll put everything in writing so they can check it.
  • Plain English. No jargon, no pressure, no scare tactics. Urgency comes from real deadlines, not sales talk.
  • When it isn't right, we say so. If funding won't help a business that's losing money, we'll point you to free help or a registered professional.

Our promises

Enquiring doesn't involve a credit check. Your details aren't sprayed across a list of lenders — one team reads your enquiry and works on it. A real person who understands ATO debt calls you back. And please fill in the form as accurately as you can; it's the fastest way to the right option first time.

No credit check to enquire

Asking what's possible leaves your credit file untouched. A credit check only comes up if you decide to proceed.

Your file isn't shopped around

We don't hand your details to a queue of lenders or brokers. One team looks at your situation and matches it carefully.
