Before you call anyone

How it works

How it works: from first question to a nil ATO balance

Six calm steps. Deadlines first, honest options always, and nothing signed until you've seen it in writing.

See if you qualify →No credit check to enquire
  1. 1

    1. Tell us the situation (about 60 seconds)

What you owe the ATO, what kind of tax, any notices you've received, and whether there's property. No credit check when you enquire.

  2. 2

    2. A real person calls you

Someone who understands ATO debt reads your enquiry and calls. Deadlines come first: DPN dates, lockdown status, statutory demands, garnishee notices.

  3. 3

    3. An honest view of your options

If an ATO plan, the interest-free plan or remission fits better, we'll say so. If funding fits, we'll explain the structure — secured, unsecured or a mix.

  4. 4

    4. Documents and approval

Your ATO statement of account, lodgement status, bank statements, ID and property details for secured loans. You see the total cost and terms in writing before you sign.

  5. 5

    5. Settlement — straight to the ATO where arranged

Funds can be paid directly to the ATO using your payment reference number. For property-secured loans, funding is possible in as little as 24 hours once everything is in place.

  6. 6

    6. Clean-up

Confirm the nil balance, ask the ATO to withdraw any garnishee notice, and check any credit listing is updated. Then set up habits so it doesn't happen again.

Before you enquire

It helps to have your ATO statement of account in front of you — from Online services for business or your accountant — and copies of any notices. If any BAS or returns are unlodged, mention it; lodging on time protects directors from the lockdown rule and keeps more options open. The ATO debt options checker is a good warm-up if you're not sure funding is the right direction.

What we'll ask on the first call

  • Which ATO accounts are in debt — activity statement, income tax, super guarantee charge — and roughly how much in each.
  • Whether you've received a director penalty notice, garnishee notice, credit-reporting warning, statutory demand or wind-up application, and the dates.
  • Whether any BAS was lodged more than three months late, or the ATO raised an estimate.
  • How the business is trading now, and what caused the debt.
  • Whether there's property that could be used as security, and any existing mortgage.

Our promises, at every step

No credit check to enquire

Asking what's possible leaves your credit file untouched. A credit check only comes up if you decide to proceed.

Your file isn't shopped around

We don't hand your details to a queue of lenders or brokers. One team looks at your situation and matches it carefully.

A real person reads it

Someone who understands ATO debt calls you back. Accurate form answers mean the first conversation is a useful one.

Common questions

Does enquiring affect my credit score?

No. There's no credit check when you first enquire. A credit check only happens if you decide to go ahead, and we'll tell you before it does.

Will my details be sent to lots of lenders?

No. One team reads your enquiry and works on it. We don't spray your details across a panel of lenders or sell them as a lead.

How quickly can this happen?

For property-secured loans, funding is possible in as little as 24 hours once the lender has everything it needs. Valuations, documents and existing-lender consent usually decide the real timeline, so start early if a deadline is running.

Do you work with my accountant?

Yes, gladly. We'll put figures and terms in writing so your accountant can review them, and we'll coordinate on which ATO accounts to pay first.

What if funding isn't right for me?

We'll tell you, and point you to the ATO's own options, the free Small Business Debt Helpline (1800 413 828) or a registered professional.
